Facilitated by Enterprise Great Lake Taupō and powered by Traff1k D1g1tal, The Engine Room group meets bi-monthly to share ideas, boost productivity and drive business expansion through investment.
Enterprise Great Lake Taupō Board Member and local businessman, Bruce Bartley, has led the creation of this new group to fill a need he has seen regularly in Taupō.
"There are many energetic entrepreneurs in Taupō and also many experienced investors, but how do they meet?” explains Bruce. "The Engine Room is affiliated with the Enterprise Angels group in Tauranga, but since we're a smaller centre we have a broader focus, it's not just deal-by-deal. This is a forum, a contact point, a meeting place where people interested in the "business of business" can share information and knowledge.
"The Engine Room provides a forum where ideas and development opportunities can be explored in an experienced and proactive environment," says Bruce. "Business mentor meets investment ideas meets banking capability and inspiration".
This new group replaces the 'Next Great Idea' events that started in 2012 in response to a need for local entrepreneurs to connect with each other. The Next Great Idea forums have been popular, with a core group of members who have enjoyed the opportunity to connect with each other and share ideas. EGLT has taken the great feedback from the Next Great Idea members and evolved the group's ethos and intent in creating The Engine Room.
To grow our local economy, we need a strong business base that is growing and evolving. New businesses generate new money and jobs, and these flow through the local economy to benefit our whole community. It is hoped The Engine Room will help develop dynamic new businesses that create employment opportunities and sustained economic benefits for Taupō.
